Arid Zone Research Centre (AZRC) - D.I.Khan

Arid Zone Research Center, Dera Ismail Khan established as sub-station in 1974, up-graded to the level of institute during 1996 under the umbrella of Arid Zone Research Centre, Quetta and the Institute was up-graded to the level of Center during 2015.

Arid Zone Research Centre (AZRC), D.I.Khan is working as Centre having four Adaptive Research Cum Demonstration Institutes at Wana, South Waziristan Tribal District, Miranshah, North Waziristan Tribal District, Tank and Lakki Marwat. AZRC, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council was established to cater the needs of arid and semi-arid areas of Khyber PukhatoonKhawa. Despite limited resources, AZRC has considerable role in increasing agricultural productivity of the area through development of high yielding & disease resistant crop varieties and improved production technologies for guidance of the farmer’s and related stakeholders. The scientists have published more than one hundred research papers / articles in research journals of national and international repute beside different reports / brochures printed in national language (Urdu) for guidance of the end-users. Recent publications are available on net in PDF format. 

Mission: To increase Agricultural productivity in Arid areas.

Goals: Increasing agricultural productivity of the area through development of high yielding & disease resistant crop varieties and improved production technologies for guidance of the farmer’s and related stakeholders.
