Dr. Sajjad Ali Rao , Member (Crop Sciences Division)

Dr. Sajjad A. Rao is a results-driven Research, Development, and Innovation expert and strategic advisor with extensive experience in agricultural science, higher education, and policy leadership. He is recognized for developing high-impact strategies, advancing innovation, and strengthening sustainable agricultural systems across diverse agro-ecological regions.

His research focuses on sustainable crop production, food security, climate resilience, and the transfer of green skills to address emerging agricultural and environmental challenges. Dr. Rao specializes in bridging research, regulatory frameworks, and commercialization, with a strong track record of driving sustainable growth, technology adoption, and global competitiveness.

His expertise spans crop science, seed systems, biotechnology regulation, climate-smart agriculture, and higher education R&D. He has led multidisciplinary research programs in crop improvement, climate-positive protected agricultural systems, and agricultural biotechnology, contributing to national and international agricultural strategies and producing peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Dr. Rao has also provided advisory input on agricultural policy modernization and science and technology frameworks across North America, South Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region, helping align innovation systems with global best practices.
