A three member delegation of FAO, Pakistan headed by Ms Florence Rolle (FAO Representative in Pakistan) visited PARC-SARC on 28-10-2021.
Welcoming the visitors, Mr. Parwaiz Ahmed Baloch, Director, FQSRI briefed about R&D activities of PARC-SARC and its allied institutes in Sindh province. Ms Florence Rolle discussed the issues of bilateral nature with reference to water management, value addition of indigenous agricultural produce, their marketing and transfer of technologies among the farming community. She shared ongoing collaboration of FAO in Sindh province to support agriculture sector, food system and to reduce malnutrition.
Later, Mushroom production and Pesticide residues monitoring labs were visited where Mrs. Uzma Sitara and Dr. Riaz Uddin briefed the guests regarding current activities i.e. spawn production, utilization of farm residues as substrate, training of students and interested mushroom growers and testing of aflatoxin, heavy metals, pesticide residues in rice grain in Sindh province remained under discussion.
A proposed site for FAO office at VPCI, PARC-SARC was also visited. Dr. Aamer Irshad and Mr. Kazi Ashraf Ali (FAO) accompanied during the visit.
