Value Addition is an important component of nutritional security; Chairman PARC

PARC inaugurates Cold Chain and Fish Processing Plant at NARC

Islamabad(22nd September 2021):     In connection with agreement signed in July, 2021 byPARC and Al Wahab Enterprises (Pvt.) Ltd. for quality fish meat production and its marketing, Dr. Azeem Khan, Chairman PARC inaugurated the Cold Chain and Fish Processing Plantat NARC.  Shamim ul Sibtain Shah DG NARC, Dr, Nasir Mahmood Cheema Director (Special Initiative) PARC, Dr. S. Murtaza Hassan Andrabi Director (ASI) NARC, Mr. Hilal Wahab Director Al  Wahab Enterprises (Pvt.) Ltd and Dr. Rehana Kausar SSO / Program Leader (AFP) NARC were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PARC Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan said that quality fish and its products to national and international supply chain will be given special attention as well as this activity will also ensure revenue generation for PARC. Raw fish will be processed at cold chain and processing unit by labeling its products as "PARC GOOD FISH", the Chairman also added.

The Chairman more added that value addition is one of the important components of nutritional security. Sometimes farmers get less price of a particular farm produce due to its surplus production. This problem can be solved by the crop diversification which creates an opportunity to earn more money from the different crops produce. Crop diversification and value addition are the two techniques for the profit maximization and nutritional security. The other participants also spoke and shared their views on value addition and its importance.
