Islamabad (02nd July, 2018)……. Three days training on “Management of honeybee colonies for quality honey production and pollination of crops” was organized by HBRI, NARC (PARC) in collaboration with NTHRI Shinkiari, Mansehra from 26 June to 28 June 2018.
The objectives of the course were the capacity building of beekeepers, farmers, extension workers, foresters, students, scientists and staff of PARC,NTHRI and local community regarding domestication and management of honeybee colonies, their seasonal management control of honeybee ecto-parasitic mites and other different pests and diseases. Moreover, to educate the participants and raise awareness among them about different hive products (beeswax, pollen, propolis, and royal jelly), different honey quality parameters and quality queen rearing methodologies.
Director PARC-NTHRI welcomed the participants. Course Coordinator briefed about the role of Honeybee Research Institute for the promotion and development of honeybee in the country and objectives of the training course. A total of 40 participants were registered for the training which showed keen interest in lectures. Director HBRI and Scientists of the institute delivered different lectures and Para-scientific staff assisted in different practical sessions.
At the concluding session, Director HBRI appreciated the efforts of HBRI scientists and staff for successfully completing the three days training and also thanked PARC-NTHRI for their cooperation. He also appreciated the participation and thanked HBRI for training at NTHRI, Mansehra. At the end certificates and gifts containing honey and beeswax creams were distributed among participants.
