Umerkot (5 June)……….. Training seminar on “Cultivation of Toxic Free Vegetables in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions” has been organized by Arid Zone Research Institute, (PARC) Umerkot on 05/06/2016. More than 60 participants attended the program and visited the Institute’s activities specially manufacturing process of organic fertilizer, Bioremediation System, Kitchen Gardening and organic vegetables at AZRI farm. After thorough visit the participants seated in the Hafeez Halipoto Hall (HHH) and session was started by the recitation of Holy Quran. The Director AZRI presented the activities of the project under RADP-Program. Director trained the farmer on preparation method of Neem Extract for the application against different insect pest of vegetables. He also explained the role of Neem Extract and its methods of application. He further presented the role of predators and parasites in pest management of vegetables. The use of Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs) in agriculture and their impact on agriculture produce. It was also explained to the participants that role and benefits of organic fertilizer are many in vegetables. The farmers took keen interest in training topics and question answers session. The farmers agreed to grow vegetables toxic free in future and use low toxic chemical preferably IGRs.
