Islamabad (May 23)……... Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) making efforts to develop skills and understanding of professionals, service providers, and students in designing and management of solar pumps and efficient irrigation systems.Pakistan has been gripped by sever energy shortages and same is true on farm energy shortage. The solar energy harnessing from the sun is a viable option to address the conventional energy crisis and use of alternate source efficiently. This was stated by Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan, Director General National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) while addressing on the occasion of Inaugural Session of three-day Training Course on“Solar Pumps and High Efficient Irrigation Systems; Design And Management” at NARC, Islamabad.
Dr. Abdul Ghafoor P.D, Pak-China said that the shortage of electricity crisis affects the agriculture sector so this training will enhance the knowledge of the participant in designing, layout, maintenance, evaluation and management of high efficient irrigation systems powered by solar energy to overcome the ongoing crisis in agriculture. CAEWRI, NARC / PARC scientists will provide technical support to all stake holders and farmers for the adaptation of solar pumps and efficient irrigation systems in agriculture.
On this occasion, Dr. Muhammad Munir Ahmad, PSO/ Director, CAEWRI highlighted the importance of solar energy potential in Pakistan and said that a series of such trainings will be organized in different parts of the country. Moreover Dr. Muhammad Riaz Chattha, Director (Short Courses) also endorsed that keeping in view the interest of the participants, more such events will be organized in future.
