Implementation outside NARC

 

Replication of the Technology in Private, Public and Development Sector

The ISFS/Bio-remediation technology is replicated in all four provinces of the country by private, public and development organizations.

 

Establishment of by UNICEF Pakistan, Phase-1

Local Government and Rural Development Department (LGRDD) and Anjum-e-Takmeel-e-Maqased-e Insania (ATMI) (1996-1999)

Three of the above organizations contributed to introduce variouscomponents of ISFS/Bio-remediation in GanguJuma Village, Taxila. The village reclaimed village wastewater was about 0.75 it covered about 3.5 acre of land,the land consumed for biological treatment of wastewater was about 0.75 acre and rest of the land restored for integrated farming activities

UNICEF Pakistan and Sardar Ahmed Khan Memorial Welfare

Trust (SAK-MWT) (1999-2001)

 

SAK-MWT played important role with the collaboration of UNICEF Pakistan to complete the integrated components. These components include finalization of the landscaping, mushroom production unit, poultry farm, beekeeping, organic farming and fish farming components

 

IBADAT ISFS/Bio-remediation Resource Centre, Lahore

UNICEF Pakistan and IBADAT Trust Lahore (1999-2001)

IBADAT Trust with cooperation of UNICEF Pakistan replicated the concept of ISFS in the village ChamruPura, Raiwind Road Lahore and reclaim 0.65 cusec wastewater for irrigatio

 

   

Fazilia ISFS Resource Centre, Taxila

UNEP Pakistan FAZILIA Trust and Nano Bio-Solutions (Pvt) Ltd (2011-2012)

Fazlia Trust offered its services, land and school facilities to reclaim about 1.0 cusec of village wastewater and developed demonstration centre with the technical facilitation of NBS.

Plan International and Nano Bio-Solutions (Pvt) Ltd. (2011-2012)

The community was socially mobilized to contribute for the replication of the concept and 0.8 cusec of wastewater for irrigation and ground recharge.

Bioremediation

  1. Established Bio-remediation Garden to reclaim sewerage water of NARC offices through bio-remediation.

  2. Established Bio-remediation Orchard for treatment of 0.65 million gallons waste water of Shehzad Town, Islamabad.

  3. Established integrated farming facilities through usage of reclaimed water at Bio-remediation Garden and Bio-remediation Orchard.

  • Prepared and analyze lettuce based compost by using different additive

  •  Establishment of small scale ornamental plant nursery.

  •  Establishment of scented Rose nursery for perfume extraction.

  •  Establishment of 30,000 ornamental, fruits and forest plants under high density plantation.

  •  High efficiency sprinkler irrigation system at Bioremediation garden.

  1. Established water quality laboratory.

  2. Production of high nutritive value crops i.e. duck weed, water lettuce from used water for poultry and livestock feed.

  3. Awareness Generation

  • At least 300 visits were conducted from policy makers, academicia, progressive farmers, print & electronic media, NGO’s and members of civil society.
  • Published a Newsletter and 3 Brochures.
  • Developed Institute’s website www.nibpk.org& www.bsupk.org
  • Established collaboration with media partners i.e. TV Channels, Radio and Print media. (PTV, ATV, SohniDharty,, FM 99, FM 100 etc).

Projects submitted/won/completed

  1. Won the project in collaboration with CDA entitled “Establishment of Model waste water treatment facility in Rose and Jasmine Garden, Islamabad”

  2. Won the COMCEC Funded project entitled “Pakistan Bioremediation Model for wastewater treatment and capacity building program among OIC countries”

  3. A project on “Treatment of waste water of Jammu & Kashmir Housing Society” has been submitted.

An RADP Sub-project entitled "Demonstration of Innovative Practices to Improve Rural Livelihood Through Integrated Farming Resources Management under Watershed conditions of Potohar Region" (Component -II Bioremediation)” is in completion stage.
