PARC Arid Zone Research Institute, Umerkot
Introduction
PARC-Arid Zone Research Sub-Station at Umerkot was established in 1981-82 as a part of Arid Zone Research Institute, Quetta (PARC) on 211 acres area of which was acquired from Government of Sindh. Station was upgraded on 1994 as Arid Zone Research Institute (AZRI) and currently works under the administrative control of SARC, Karachi and Member (Natural Resources Division), PARC, Islamabad. Now this institute is going to be a centre as Arid Zone Research Centre (PARC) Umerkot.
The overall goal of the institute is to enhance productivity of arid and semi-arid agriculture of Thar and surrounding areas by identifying crop, livestock and socio-economic constraints.
