The Insect Pest Management Program
is undertaking research on the problems on which research in
other parts of the country is not conducted. Research is mainly
focused on the insect pests of sugarcane, rice wheat and other
cereals, fruits and vegetables. The research is oriented towards
the development of pest scouting methods, development of
varieties resistant to insect pests by cooperating with plant
breeders, development of IPM models by using system analysis
approach and implementation of IPM models in filed.
