PARC Website
PARC Website (http://www.parc.gov.pk) is one of the largest on agricultural R&D in Pakistan with more than 500 pages and 5 on-line databases. It counted 174,000 hits since June 2004. More than 567 Agro-forum members are actively taking part in on-line discussion forum. It is bi-lingual website with a strong Urdu section for farmers.
 

NARC Library
A well-organized and properly stocked library with more than 30,000(+) library holdings includes 25000(+) books/documents, 2900 reprints of documents, 1028 journal titles with 8186 volumes, video cassettes, and CD-ROMs. During the years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 library was strengthened with 1400 new books/documents and 946 journals issues.
 

Databases
Pakistan Agriculture Database: Bibliographic database with abstracts containing information of publications published in Pakistan or elsewhere in the world about Pakistan’s agriculture or by Pakistani scientists. Database contains 67500(+) records, out of which 14260 are thesis. Database with its access on Internet is helping scientific community in review of literature on research being conducted in Pakistan or about Pakistan’s agriculture.
 

NARC Library Catalogue: On-line public access catalogue of NARC Library containing information of more than 25000 publications, including books, documents, theses, reports, monographs, etc. available in the Library.
 

Union Database of Journals in Agricultural Libraries of Pakistan: Web-based database containing information of more than 3000 journal/magazine titles with available volumes and issues in 36 libraries of Pakistan on agriculture and allied subjects. It helps scientists/librarians for searching of required journal/magazine from Pakistani libraries.
 

Database of Pakistani Periodicals: Database has been developed and maintained with 190 records containing information of journals, magazines and newsletters published from Pakistan on agriculture and allied subjects.
 

Documentation
Input to AGRIS Database of FAO: To share Pakistani agriculture research and development literature with international scientific community Information of more than 27,000 Pakistani serial articles, reports, thesis, monographs, proceedings has been contributed to AGRIS database since 1985.
 

On-Line Access of Full-Text PARC Publications: An agreement was signed with CAB International (CABI), Wallingford, UK to include PARC publications on-line with CABI full-text products “Global Agricultural Research Archive”. 810 full-text PARC publications and articles published in Pakistan Journal of Agricultural Research” are available on-line http://www.cabi.org/GARA
 

Input to RWC-PRISM Database: Data of 217 Pakistani S&T organizations and 690 scientists was entered to RWC-PRISM Database of CIMMYT
 

Bibliographic Service: Service started in the year 1992 and till now about 49,000(+) requests entertained by providing approximately 2.5(+) million references/abstracts from available national and international databases in response to requests received through out Pakistan for literature search.
 

On-Line Searching Facilities
24 computers Local Area Network (LAN) was developed for on-line searching of HEC subscribed international research journals/scientific publications/databases and internet and E-mail services for PARC/NARC scientists and NUAS students.
 

Photography
Scientific and functional photographic facilities were developed for scientists and research managers of PARC/NARC for their field and lab experiments and important events. For the digital preservation of photographs photo-data bank (database) was developed which presently contains images of (600)+ photographs.
