Pakistan is blessed with vast agro-environment to produce a variety of temperate, sub-tropical and Mediterranean fruits in Northern Areas, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. Fruit culture is high income, environment friendly year long activity that absorbs unemployed labour, in production, marketing and processing, both in rural and urban areas. Processed horticultural produce stabilize prices of every day using commodities. Fruit Crops Research Program was initially started at NARC from 1984 t with the aim to conduct research activities to resolve problems to boost yield, in collaboration with the provincial fruit research institutes/stations. The research activities are being conducted on different evergreen and deciduous fruit crops (citrus, peach, grapes, avocado, olive, guava, fig, loquat, pear, strawberry etc).
