Dr. M. E. Tusneem, Chairman PARC visited Karachi
from. July 10-11, 2008.. He
had a very hectic schedule during his stay and had meetings, presentations and
visits to various institutes and section of SARC.
Chairman PARC
inaugurated newly constructed Lab at Livestock Fisheries Research on July 10, 2008 and
appreciated the efforts and dedication of the LFRU staff in materializing the
new laboratories 
for R&D
endeavors in livestock sector particularly in Sindh.
He also visited CARS
farm where he was briefed about research activities at CARS
and some administrative issue regarding encroachment at CARS
farm. At the occasion Chairman PARC also planted an Iranian Fig plants recently
imported from Japan.
The
chairman PARC had hectic day at SARC on 11th
July 2008 . He visited GQTL Lab, Pest Risk Assessment Lab, GSRI,
addressed SARC scientists & Staff at SARC Library, had meeting with
representative of PARSA & EPARC to listen various issues and problem of
scientists and attended a presentation of DG SARC. While addressing SARC
scientists Chairman, PARC
emphasized the need for maintaining hard work and conducive environment for the
research so as to attain better research results and contribute to
national development. He announced for better medical facility and provision of
house hiring to all employees of SARC
The chairman PARC also attended a presentation given by DG SARC about
research activities at SARC during last 5 years. The chairman PARC reviewed
each activity carefully and advised that research be prioritized and optimum
utilization of resources and manpower be ensured.
Dr. M.E. Tusneem, Chairman PARC accompanied by DR U. N. Khan DG SARC,
attended a meeting at the office of Chief Secretary Govt. of Sindh on July 11 2008. Mr. Rizwan
Ahmed, Secretary (S&GD) and Mr. Jawaid Hanif, DCO
Karachi was also present at the
meeting. Matters of mutual interest was discussed in the meeting and it was
agreed that existing collaboration of PARC in R&D activities with reference
to Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries projects being implemented in Sindh
province will further be enhanced by increasing interaction. The encroachment
issue at CARS farm was discussed in detail
and Dr. Tusneem appreciated the efforts extended by ACS
for addressing the issue of encroachment at CARS
farm. DCO Karachi assured to extend his assistance and
settling the matter amicably.
A
thanks giving party was hosted in the honor of the Chairman PARC on 10 July 2008 at Lavish Restaurant, Karachi
by SARC Scientists.
Dr Shahan Uroog Kazmi was
also present at the occasion. DG SARC in his address appreciated the efforts of
Chairman PARC and his team for introduction of SPS scale in PARC and relieve given to scientist by
resolving administrative & financial problems like pay fixation, pension and promotion etc.
Mr Kamran Khanzada representative of SARC in PARSA appreciated Chairman PARC
for his efforts for welfare of scientists.
At the end chairman PARC in his address said that he was
‘moved’ by gratitude given by scientists and acknowledged the
contribution of his team at PARC HQ and scientists to initiate and implement
reform agenda in PARC. However he observed that scientist has to fulfill the
trust anticipated by common people by working hard & with dedication to
ensure food security for poor.
