R&D SCOPE

The R&D scope of SARC is quite extensive ranging from problem oriented research to provision of analytical and advisory service on specific issues. Following are the major areas of interest at SARC:

  • Grain protection, quality certification of grains, testing of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural produce to meet import and export requirements

  • Testing of mycotoxins, pesticides, and other residues in food and feed commodities

  • Screening of wheat varieties against rust under hot and humid environment

  • Development and propagation of new sugarcane varieties

  • Research on arid and coastal agriculture

  • Rodent control at farm, market and in civic bodies including seaport and airports

  • Provision of analytical services for the composition of animal/poultry feed

  • Provision of technical support to livestock farmers for breeding, feeding and health issues

  • Field application of research results/ technologies in Sindh and Baluchistan

  • Teaching and research support to post-graduate students at the University of Karachi
