LINSEED

 

 

Linseed belongs to the family Linaceae and the genus Linum. It is both oil and fibre crop. However, it is used mainly for non-edible purposes. In Pakistan it is grown in Sindh and Punjab provinces. Its area and production has been stagnant from 1970-71 to 1995-96. However, area reached to maximum during 1978-79 with total area of 12525 ha producing 6655 tons and average yield of 531 kg/ha.
